A warm and happy learning environment will encourage your child’s continuing desire to learn.
Strong attachments and relationships early in life also mean your child is more likely to build warm, positive and responsive relationships.
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Immanuel Early Learning Centre (IELC). We are delighted that you have chosen our Centre for the education of your child.
Immanuel Early Learning Centre (IELC) grew from an identified need in the local community for a high quality early childhood service. The development of the Centre was a collaboration between Immanuel Lutheran College, the local community, the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care, and Queensland Lutheran Early Childhood Services (QLECS).
Immanuel Early Learning Centre opened its doors to a very receptive and enthusiastic community in January 2010. The goal of staff working at the IELC is to develop the whole child. We recognise the individual potential in each child and guide and extend their development by providing opportunities for maximum growth in every foundational learning area including thinking, communication, sense of self and others, social living and learning, health and physical understanding, cultural and environmental understanding, and of course, spiritual understanding.
Strong attachments and relationships early in life also mean your child is more likely to build warm, positive and responsive relationships. We will be playing a small part in shaping the adult they will become and giving them a strong foundation for the rest of their life.
The educational program in our Early Learning Centre (ELC), as in our Primary School, is child centred and teacher guided. A warm and happy learning environment will encourage your child’s continuing desire to learn. Opportunities will be provided for individual and group investigations, exploration and problem solving across all areas of learning. Warm and loving interactions will develop their confidence, resilience and communication. This will prepare your child for things they will come across later in life like working through problems, dealing with stress and forming healthy relationships with other people in adolescence and adulthood.
Our curriculum is play based where children are empowered to be lifelong learners. They will have the opportunity to engage in many activities such as art, music, drama, dance, literacy, numeracy and technology to represent their ideas, previous learning and new understandings, along with learning about the community they live in. They will visit Immanuel Gardens, the local residential home, participate in Forest School, swimming and Billy’s Buddies.
Our Centre is based on Christian principles and values. As Christians, we believe that each child is important and unique. We recognise and celebrate the abilities of each child as well as the differences in their development, maturation, personality and ability. Through co-operation, respect, care and courtesy, we encourage each child to develop positive self-esteem, confidence and a love for learning.
We aim to provide a safe and secure learning environment where children feel comfortable to challenge their own thinking and to take risks to try something they may not have tried before. We take a holistic approach to early childhood education and provide a broad, integrated, caring and educational program within a Christian context.
We value the input of parents into our program and every day running of the Centre. We welcome parent participation and see the value this has for the children attending our ELC. This special partnership encourages each child to develop their full potential.
We look forward to working with your child and to developing a strong partnership with your family over the coming years.
Yours sincerely,
Tracey Ellaway
